SUMMER SERIES: Mandarin Lips

Seeing as last my tutorial (which you can see here) was really focused on those warm summery shades on the lids, this time I thought I would go a bold lip in center stage.
Orange is a colour which distinctly reminds me of summer with its’ brightness and warmth. So this was a great chance to really play with a colour I am not too use to. Honestly though, this eyelook will go with any lip/blush combination, so if you are in winter go a deep red lip and a berry blush!

Feel free to tone it down or turn up the make-up look and if you recreate it, tag me on instagram @shaydoesthething or tweet me @beauty_dork

After moisturizing, apply your base as you usually would. To do this I used Bourgois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation and Lumi Magique Primer, Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in Fair and Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade in Dark Brown. I then set the liquids with the Australis AC On Tour Kit using the yellow shade for under the eyes and the pink shade for all over the face.

I’m going for a strong contour using Australis (really? More Australis?) AC On Tour Kit and like in my previous Summer Series tutorial, blending that out well with Stila’s Give Me Sun Bronzer in Light. My review for the AC On Tour Kit can be found here – so if you are interested in my thoughts on it go visit me over there.

I’m blending this light BYS orange blush onto my cheeks very, very carefully because I am not emotionally ready to be an Oompa Loompa. Finally go crazy with some highlight, which I used (surprise) the AC On Tour Kit highlighting shade. Set all this caked product down with a setting spray and take a deep breath because the boring part is nearly over.

Now the lips are the star of the show, so the eyes should be extremely neutral. For this I am using the Lorac Pro Palette. Jeez I adore this palette.
I’m firstly lightly applying the Lorac primer. I then sweep a mixture of cream and white over the entire eye up to the brow bone.
For a transition colour, apply Taupe, a lovely warm brown that is perfect for a crease colour. Apply this colour also to the outer v.
If you want to deepen this look up, apply the shade sable to the outer v and blend in to the taupe and slightly into the crease. I then used the Stila Give Me Sun Bronzer to really warm the eyes up. Add Mary Lou-manizer to the inner corner to give the eye some sparkle.
Using liquid eyeliner, in which I used Maybelline Master Precise (believe the hype), draw a nice thin wing. To finish the eye, apply flirty lashes if that is your thing and mascara to the top lashes only to really lift the eye.

Now the star of the show is super easy. Lastly, apply Rimmel Moisture Renew in In Love with Ginger to the lips and bam! You’re done! If you need to, crisp up that edge by applying concealer around your lip line. This will not only sharpen that line, but really help clean up any little mistakes.

And that is the finished look. What do you think, and where would you wear this? What do you like to wear for summer? Comment below.

Haul It Honey!

Well, it was bound to happen. My cousin, the gorgeous Heather, owner of the blog ‘The Encyclopedia of Her’ came down from Canberra. And Jesus take the wheel, my wallet hurts. This is collaboration so you better be checking out her post!

So firstly, after getting giant coffees we headed to Parramatta Westfields. This is where it went all downhill, or uphill depending on how you look at it. So read below to check what I bought.

·      Lush ‘Limited Edition Gold Fun’
I went to Lush with no plan on what I wanted to buy. Usually not a good idea but the assistant was amazing. So she showed us this little baby,
I would describe the smell as a caramelly, citrusy and a little bergamoty and has a clay texture. If you want an intense lather, this isn’t the product for you. If you want a lovely fragrant soap, this bad boy is it.

·      Mario Badescu ‘Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs & Rosewater’
This is incredibly well priced for how awesome this product is. A cooling spritz that settles down makeup and elongates wear. Can I just bless this bottle of goodness just for the dispenser. The mist is so fine and just … it gives me life!
It smells good too, like roses. As if you needed an incentive.

·      Inglot Pigment in ‘63’
If angel tear looked like molten copper, this would be it. And I just want to rub this all over my eyelids. It is smooth, pigmented (duh), and just dreamy. May I say a hallelujah for Inglot opening in Parramatta? I can’t wait to collect them all.

·      M.A.C ‘Lady Danger’
This colour is an intense, matte bright orangey red. It will blow your mind and it is unlike anything I have in my collection. Mostly because I don’t have a real collection anymore. Well for now.

·      The Balm ‘Mary Lou-manizer’
It is probably very likely I should not include this. Mostly because it was bought for me but HOLY DAMNATION THIS IS GORGEOUS!
ok, I'll calm down. It is a silvery, champagne highlight that makes you shine bright like a diamond (thank you Rihianna). I don't really need to detail this much, because if you've been in the beauty blogger life for long, you probably have heard all about this.

SO there goes all my savings. But gosh was it worth it? YESH! Have you hauled recently? If you have comment below or tag me on instagram @shaydoesthethingCome back and see me soon!

NOVEMBER FAVOURITES

Oh, November. Where have you gone? This is one of my favorite months because it is my birthday month! Woohoo all you Scorpios. Holla.
To be honest, there were not a lot of products I fell in love with this month. But the products I did choose I was obsessed over. So here we go.

·      Crop Argan Oil
After reviewing my skin care regime for a previous post, I realized there was something lacking. So browsing along the beauty aisles of Coles one night while I was working, this beautiful argan oil caught my eye. The packaging is beautiful, and luckily for me, so is this oil. It is hydrating with out being really oily. It absorbs quickly into the skin and doesn’t break me out.

·      M.A.C Faux lipstick
Ok, sit down and let me tell you a story. I went to a wedding not too long ago. It was great, but silly me, I bought all my lipsticks. In one bag. Which I then proceeded to lose.
So after that it’s time I rebuild my lipstick collection. This one is a rebuy. It is a wonderful mauvy-rose nude that is definitely a ‘my lips but better’ colour. It is a satin, so it has decent staying power and is super pigment. You just need one swipe.

·      L’oreal Lumi Magique Foundation in N1 Pure Pearl
It is incredibly hard to find a good foundation that matches my skin. This suffering is tripled in the drugstore. The joys of being a neutral.
But I have found the holy grail. L’oreal Lumi Magique Foundation in N1 Pure Pearl. It fits my skin perfectly. And it works for my dry to normal skin. All hail the L’oreal Lumi Magique range.

·      Bring Me the Horizon’s Drown
It is completely different to Bring Me the Horizon’s old sound, but overall super catchy. If for some insane reason you don’t want to listen to this song, visit the page just to check out the comments. Note: Grab popcorn before reading comments section.

·      Offspring, Season 1
Nina is neurotic, clumsy and awkward. This is Australian TV at its finest. I find the Proudman family highly relatable as a dysfunctional family, even if I have never experienced any of the events that occur. If you have not watched this and can get your hands on it – watch it now!
You must watch this. Buy it here or here.

So how was your November? I am so excited to enter the Christmas season. It will be my first Christmas living on my own. Also all you scorpios - represent, in the comments below.
Come back and see me soon, my next post is a tutorial on one of my favourite summer makeup looks.
